Helplessness
Repeated abuse leads to learned helplessness.
Happiness
A foolish man seeks happiness in the distance.
A wise man grows it beneath his feet.
An old proverb.
The Psychology of Tough Nuts
“Torturing and or killing pet animals is an early indicator of an expression of inner hostility. Such an individual, as they grow older, will then extend that very same hostility towards not just animals, but to people around them.”
“It indicates that as an adult, he’s gonna get pleasure out of hurting people, and that basically gives him a sense of power, out of deliberately causing them pain, and making them suffer.”
Tough Nuts, Australian Crime Stories, season 2.
Russell Crowe Oscar Awards Speech
“You know, when you grow up in the suburbs of Sydney or Auckland, or Newcastle like Ridley or Jamie Bell, or the suburbs of anywhere, you know, a dream like this seems kind of vaguely ludicrous and completely unattainable. But this moment is directly connected to those childhood imagining[s]. And for anybody who’s on the down side of advantage and relying purely on courage, it’s possible. Thanks very much.”
Russell Crowe, Oscar Awards.
Canada
Just by looking at Canada’s news, it worries me.
I don’t understand, the urge in people to let things go. I highly doubt that in 10 years, there will be such a thing as “why don’t you move to Canada? It’s a good place to live”.
It scares me that Canadians are indifferent to the streams of changes around them. It’s slow, but gradual.
What are people exactly proud of? Low wages? Traffic? Crime rate? Wild fires? Passive aggressive pressurized behavior?
Donald and Musk
I don’t know why the whole world is watching this embarrassment. This is a family matter. Inside, many of us don’t even look at the news. But outside, every single person is tracking every single move Donald and Musk are making to hurt each other.
Like I said, “Private Family Matter”. No one even cares. We’re used to it.
Turning around
What is it with the generations. They grow up, go to the university, graduate, get a job, get a house, travel abroad once a year, and never change. They never get a comfortable life, never go on voyage, and never turn their lives around. They remain like that. Unchanged, bored, and unwilling.
Maybe the problem is that they had to remain behind closed doors the best years of their lives.
Mark Carney’s Daughter and Harvard
If Mark Carney needed to take long trip to the U.S. without even being invited just to show how much he dislikes “the American ways”, then why is his daughter studying at Harvard?
Shouldn’t she be studying in some “prestigious” Canadian university?
Or it is that Mark Carney thinks Canadian universities are inferior, compared to the “American” universities?
Thunder and Lightning
I love thunder and lightning, both.
There is a certain type of peace in all that chaos.
The flashes of light, and the voice of the nature in a matter of seconds, it awes me.
To me, it looks like something is flying all over skies, making sure every bit of the universe (our universe, the tiny planet we have here) has received enough care and attention. At some point, all ends with a rain. And then, there is a rainbow.
And life starts, again.
